Segmentation of your subscriber’s list

Segmentation of your subscriber’s list comes in handy when you need your users to be filtered in a certain way. For example, if you’ve recently sent out a campaign and need the email addresses to be separated into groups on a premise of their campaign activity –  you can do that. In this case, all recipients who have opened the newsletter and/or clicked on a specific link can be added to one segment, while the rest – to another. It might be beneficial to target each group accordingly in your future campaigns.

This type of usage is just the tip of an iceberg. There are quite a number of variables you can segment your list according to. Moreover, it can be done easily and conveniently.

To create a segment you’ll need to click on “Subscribers” on the left menu bar, select the mailing list and hit the “Action” button on the right-hand side of the screen. In the drop-down select “Segments”.

After that, you’ll be redirected to a segment creation page, where you’ll need to click on the “Create a new segment” button located on the top right corner.

Finally, you’ll get to an actual setup page for your segment. Choose the custom field based on which you’d like to create a condition for your segment (You’ll be able to add as many conditions as you want):

Subscriber activity” can be segmented in several ways ( keep in mind, that a new mailing list won’t have this option as it only appears for the lists that have received at least one campaign):

Here’s an example, showing how to set up a segment with two conditions – “subscribers activity” and ” subscriber added“:

As you can see, one recipient has met the commands and was separated by the system.

You have an option to select whether the segment meets either all or any conditions. In the example, a segment is set to filter out email addresses who meet both conditions (All).

A created segment can then be selected in the 3rd step of campaign creation. A new option, named “show segments”, will appear beside the mailing list. Click on the slider and select the segment:
